The Quantic Approach Can Be the Future of Education and More People Need to Know About It Now

A year ago I was introduced to the Quantic School of Business and Technology by a colleague while we were discussing higher education learning options for executives and professionals within our organization. She told me that it was already quite well known in our neighboring regions. Little did I know that our 10-minute conversation about helping others learn led to one of the best decisions and investments I’ve personally made for myself.

Coming from Macao, it was the first time I had heard about Quantic and what they promised to deliver. I was extremely curious, asking friends and family whether they had heard about it. After about a week of research, it did not seem like it was very well-known within my professional circle, but at the same time, the information I had found online told me that it was everything I was looking for. So I took a leap of faith and decided to enroll in the program. Here I am today, graduating from the Quantic EMBA program as the first Macao graduate.

I remember writing in the enrollment page that I wanted to be a pioneer and advocate for the program in Macao, because I truly believe this disrupting model of learning is the future of education. If Macao is to become the international city that it hopes to be, with the talent and expertise that the local workforce requires to step up and lead the city, quality education will be the key.

Four things about the program really stood out.

Learning Flexibility

The Quantic EMBA program provided unrivaled flexibility, proving that quality learning and knowledge acquisition could be achieved anywhere, anytime and through whichever way was most suitable for the learner. I could challenge myself from anywhere in the world, I vividly recall completing multiple Markets and Economies modules while in Guangzhou, leading a group of company executives through a learning excursion. I also remember spending time learning about entrepreneurship and startups during travelling time on a family trip to Morocco. It perfectly fits the pace of modern professionals, whether you have an hour over lunch or a few moments while commuting to work, the program works great, largely due to its seamless compatibility on both your mobile phone and a computer, as well as the way the modules are constructed. 

Content Design

The content within each module is chunked - a great way for adult learners to acquire knowledge and it’s perfectly suited for short half hour bursts of focused learning. There’s repetition - helping you retain that learning and reminding you of key terms upon your next learning session. Most importantly, you’re not bombarded with videos like most other online programs, instead you’re placed in the situation through thought-provoking scenarios and case studies. 

Content Recency

This is something that’s often overlooked but adds a ton of value to any learning experience. You’ll notice right away that the content was designed for the modern era and with the current business environment in mind. There are modules about data science, entrepreneurship and Blue Ocean strategy, topics that you will not find in many traditional programs, but definitely needed in this day and age.

The Human Touch

Yes, it’s an online program and much of the learning is done at your own pace and time, but you never feel alone. The Quantic team is always around to help and you’ll never find a more responsive group of individuals. There are frequent events that students are invited to take part in, like book and video discussions, as well as webinars on various topics delivered by the Quantic team. Then there’s the Slack group and your cohort mates. Everyone in the cohort is grouped into a Slack chat where you’ll be able to connect with students all over the world and participate in discussions about the topics you’re learning about, building relationships during the experience. This also provides real-life context to theories and help you understand perspectives from around the globe. The projects and final capstone bring the collaboration to the next level, at the same time allowing you to put everything you’ve learnt in to practice. I had a chance to work with talented professionals from all over the world, learning from them and at the same time learning about myself. 

As a long time professional in vocational training, with a Master’s degree in Education, I have no doubt that what Quantic has created is the way to go in learning and such programs will be beneficial to the development of talent in any region. Once in a while in life, it feels great to have done something first. What feels even greater is to be able to share and bring awareness to something that itself is an innovation and first of its kind.
