Dear EY4 students, all of you have done very well during your Early Years journey. You have had fun while developing knowledge through the IB PYP framework of inquiry, and especially our LAMDA courses. This year, our school has been authorized as a LAMDA Examination Centre and we are so glad to experience being the first group, as well as being the youngest group to attend the LAMDA courses and tests. LAMDA certificate is widely recognized by the world’s top universities. Holders of LAMDA certificates above Level 3 can receive extra UCAS points when applying for UK universities. Therefore, LAMDA provides a great advantage when you apply for universities in the future.

Meanwhile, you have all shown strong courage that is a competitive advantage comparing to your peers. This year has seen each of you growing into confident students ready to attend the Primary Years. During the transition from Early Years to Primary Years, you have all performed very well. In Chinese lessons, each of you have mastered the understanding of 100 characters. In English lessons, you can all independently read and understand articles. Moreover, you have learnt how to use your own writing to express your feelings. So, I would say, good job “little adults”!
Dear Y5 students, through your Primary Years journey, you have been able to develop student agency where you design the focus of what you want to learn, as part of your PYP studies. You performed exceptionally collaborating with your classmates during the 2021 ISA Tianhe PYP exhibition, with the theme of “Sharing the Planet”. Under the guidance of our dedicated teachers and PYP coordinators, every group has presented great outcome. More importantly, your projects have shown globally meaningful concepts, including deforestation, animal testing and global warming, through which you have learnt how to protect and share our planet. We are so proud that you have all passed this major challenge before your graduation from Primary Years. We believe that these will be unforgettable experiences to you and have well prepared you to study in ISA Science City.
During the last academic year, we have overcome difficulties together with all of you, your parents and our staff. The Covid-19 pandemic has not prevented our enthusiasm to welcome you and to deliver knowledge to you. I want to especially praise those who have joined our classes in the middle of our courses, although you may suffer difficulties at the beginning in catching up with your classmates, you have quickly adapted to our course and have made huge progress. Our teachers are so proud to witness your change to become braver in expressing yourselves in English and more independent in learning. Also, every one of you have improved your teamworking skills after several cooperation with your classmates. These skills will better assist and prepare you in your future research during IB MYP.
Since the beginning of June, the pandemic has become a little bit severe in Guangzhou, however, our staff have worked hard to make sure our EY4 and Y5 students to normally attend graduation ceremony and to celebrate this significant time with parents. The 2021 EY4 and Y5 Graduation Ceremony was successfully held at the Art Centre of ISA Tianhe on the 18th of June 2021.

Well done EY4, here we all are at the end of your Early Years and the beginning of your Primary education. The main thing you need to go into Primary is a love of learning, which you all have in abundance. All through your life there will be milestones. Being born, learning to walk and talk, starting school, learning to read and write. You have accomplished them all and here you are now, ready for the next big step into Primary. We are very proud of you all, keep trying hard and doing your best.
It has been a great pleasure teaching EY4C this year. I have watched all the children grow and learn in countless ways and it has been amazing to see the progress that they have all made. I have been most impressed by how well the class has progressed in their confidence, watching the children learn to believe in themselves and try their best at everything they do. Most of all, it has been great watching the children think about all of the things we have done and seeing them be so proud of their work. It has been an honour and a privilege to teach the children of EY4C and I wish them all the best for their futures.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our year 5 graduating class of 2021 for being such fantastic students. They are the most caring, welcoming and hard-working group of students that I have ever had the pleasure of teaching. They have fully embraced the PYP inquiry cycle with passion and enthusiasm. The work that they have produced during their Exhibition process has been truly inspiring. It has been a pleasure to watch them grow into knowledgeable experts and advocates within their own lines of inquiry. They are all extremely well-prepared for life in middle school and I wish them all the best in their future academic endeavours, wherever they may be.
