“My phone is a lemon”可不是“我的手机是柠檬”！真正意思太让人意外了……
说起手机，爱恨纠缠不清
好时它是万能的哆啦A梦，爱不尽
饿了能点外卖；冷了可买秋裤
无聊了有抖音微博朋友圈…
当然，如果它坏了，就只有恨了
"你个砖头！你个锤子！"
看到"My phone is a lemon"
你猜这是爱呢还是恨呢
1. My phone is a lemon
lemon 在英语中除了表示柠檬之外，还可以表示
"Something that is worthless or much less valuable than one was led to believe."
即：没用的东西，说得好听但实际没有价值的东西。
所以，当老外说"My phone is a lemon",
是在说：我的手机不好用。
"a lemon"这个短语也可以延伸为无用的人。
▐ 例如：
This car is a total lemon. It's a waste of money.
这个车不好用。买它纯粹是浪费钱。
You are a lemon.
你真没用。(你是个无用之人)
2. top banana
top banana 可不是字面上的"顶级香蕉"的意思
这是一个俚语，常见的意思有两个：
① the most important person in any group
一群人中最重要的人物
比如我们中文中常说的"头儿"、"一把手"、"顶头上司"等，都可以用这个短语来表示
▐ 例如：
I don't know when we'll finish, ask Jack, he's the top banana here.
我不知道我们什么时候结束，问杰克吧，他是我们的头儿。
② the leading comedian in a burlesque show
滑稽戏中的主演喜剧演员
▐ 例如：
The top banana's perform was very funny, making all of us laughed.
那个喜剧演员的表演非常有趣，使我们都笑了起来。
3. You're a peach
peach 是桃子
但 You're a peach 可不是：你是个桃子。
形容人的时候，老外用 peach 代表讨人喜欢的人，好人
所以 You're a peach. = 你是个好人/你是个讨人喜欢的人。
▐ 例如：
I like travelling with her. She is such a peach.
我喜欢和她旅行，她是个讨人喜欢的女孩。
She is a peach to work with.
她是一个很好的工作伙伴。
4. the apple of one's eye
the apple of one's eye
Keep me as the apple of the eye. 求你保护我，如同保护眼中的瞳孔。
apple 在当时指的是"瞳孔"(现在用pupil表达)，是眼睛里最重要最珍贵的部分。
虽然现在用 pupil 表示"瞳孔"了，但是 the apple of one's eye 这一用法保留了下来，用来表示"掌上明珠，心肝宝贝"。
▐ 例如：
She is the apple of her husband's eye.
她是她丈夫的至爱。
Harper is the apple of her father's eye.
哈珀是她父亲的掌上明珠。
5. as cool as a cucumber
as cool as a cucumber 可不要翻译成：
和黄瓜一样酷，或者：跟黄瓜一样凉丝丝
这个俚语的正确意思是：
泰然自若，沉着冷静
相当于 keep cool
▐ 例如：
She was as cool as a cucumber before the big test.
她在大考之前沉着冷静，毫不慌张。
Those firemen were as cool as cucumbers when they put out that fire.
那些消防员在扑灭那场大火时表现得镇定自若。
