This grape originally hails from France, where it is known as Pinot Gris, which translates to Pinot Grey. Grigio is simply Italian for grey.

灰皮诺最初来自法国，在法语里被称作“Pinot Gris”，而在意大利语被称作“Pinot Grigio”。我们可以根据酒瓶上的名称判断葡萄酒的产区。

While Pinot Grigio is used to make white wine, it is actually a mutation of red wine grape Pinot Noir! It’s not quite an X-Men level of mutant, but Pinot Grigio skins often carry a grey-blue color, hence the grape’s name.

虽然灰皮诺被用来酿制白葡萄酒，但它实际上是红葡萄黑皮诺的变种。与黑皮诺黑红的果皮不同，灰皮诺的果皮通常偏灰蓝色，因此被命名为“灰皮诺”。

This grape makes its Italian home in the northeast, in the regions around the province of Veneto and its capital Venice, where it can chill out and enjoy a climate cooler than most of Italy.

And Pinot Grigio has its own day -- May 17. In 2018, an Italian wine brand and an American bakery celebrated by making a cheesecake-stuffed doughnut with Pinot Grigio glaze and meringue topping. Sounds intriguing!

In the case of CHEERS’ Catavina Pinot Grigio, which hails from Delle Venezio in Veneto, you can expect light aromas of flowers and honey followed by lots of lime, green apple and green pear flavors. Serve chilled. It’s a bracing gulp-able wine that is modestly strong at 12 percent alcohol.

CHEERS’ has several options but the new Life from Stone by Springfield Estate is a cut above. Aromas of guava and passion fruit, with a soft chalky minerality and nice lime zest character at the finish.
