And maybe it's not *that* cold, but there is a chill in the air, a shiver in the bones, a need for soul-replenishing wine.

Below are three newcomers from CHEERS that should help fight the cold. But first, there is mulled wine. Or, as the peoples of Austria, Germany and Switzerland know it, "glühwein" aka "glow wine."

Mulled wine goes back 2000 years to Roman times, when people consumed it to -- ta dah! -- keep warm in the winter. It’s fairly easy and quite fun to make. In short, you combine wine, sugar and spices, and simmer. (See this CHEERS post for details.)

And if you want to take your glühwein game up a level, it’s time for Feuerzangenbowle, or “fire tongs punch.” This involves setting a rum-soaked sugar loaf on fire and letting it drip into that spiced wine. Fun! Check out this CHEERS video:

But let's say you just want a bottle of wine. CHEERS recently added a trio of Californian reds, made by LangeTwins winery, that should do the trick.

Criss Cross Cabernet Sauvignon hails from Clarksburg, due east of Napa Valley, and delivers ripe black fruit with some smoky, powdery chocolate and spicy character.
暴走加州赤霞珠干红葡萄酒产自克拉克斯堡 (Clarksburg)，位于纳帕谷 (Napa Valley) 正东。口感为成熟的黑色水果带有烟熏、粉状巧克力和香料的味道。

This wine isn’t actually 100% Cabernet. It’s given fruitiness by 10% Merlot plus 9% Petite Sirah. It should drink well with pasta and tomato sauce, a meat lover’s pizza or barbecued beef.

Criss Cross also makes a Zinfandel, what some consider California’s signature grape. The fruit comes from vineyards in Lodi, south of Clarksburg, that average 80 years old. This one is sweeter, but with good acidity, ripe red fruit instead of black and some vanilla and toasty character from its barrel aging.

The third wine, Gen5 Ancentral Red, is a tribute to the Lange family. Five grapes for five generations, led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel, and with small amounts of Malbec, Petite Sirah and Merlot.

Expect a fairly ripe rich wine–the notes say “lush”. It’s soft, round and loaded with fruit sweetness, and can handle spicier dishes.
