春暖花开，踏青时节喝哪些酒 The Bugs are Taking Over! Crisp Fresh Spring Wines

草长莺飞二月天，拂堤杨柳醉春烟。——（高鼎《村居》）今天是2022年3月3日，农历二月初一，明天是二月二龙抬头，后天是中国二十四节气中的第三个节气——惊蛰，于本周六开始。

The bugs are coming back! The Waking of Insects, the third of China's twenty-four annual solar terms, starts Saturday.

对许多农民来说这是一个重要的时间，因为田地和果园在冬日过后开始恢复生机，农耕也开始。

This is an important time for many farmers as fields and orchards start coming back to life after the winter.

That includes wine grape growers, especially in those parts of northern China where the vines are buried all winter to protect them from dry cold weather.

China’s solar terms system dates to ancient times and is linked to the Yellow River basin where -- as we learned last week [Click here to see] -- alcohol has been produced for some 9,000 years.

24节气在上月的北京冬奥会开幕式上也受到了全球关注。每个节气大约持续两周。开幕式恰逢立春，又以影片的形式展示了24节气，这是非常成功的，因为此次也是第24届冬奥会。

The system got global exposure during the Beijing Olympics last month. The opening ceremony coincided with the start of spring and featured images of all twenty-four solar terms, each of which lasts about two weeks. This worked nicely as it was also the twenty-fourth Winter Olympics.

In any case, for those of us in China’s colder areas, nice spring weather is straight ahead and that means we can enjoy a glass or two of wine outside.
