Ever Alot, the world's largest container ship, berthed at the Meishan port area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, one of the world's top container ports, on July 3.

Measuring 399.9 meters in length and 61.5 meters in width, the vessel can accommodate up to 24,004 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units).

The ship, which was independently designed and built by China, overtook Ever Ace as the world’s largest container ship after it was launched in late June.

A total of 8,469 containers are expected to be loaded and unloaded from the ship at the Meishan port area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

The Meishan port area, where both colossal vessels have berthed at, has nine super-large container berths that can simultaneously accommodate several 200,000-ton container ships.

The port area features smart technologies that allows bridge cranes and gantry cranes to be remotely controlled.

In 2021, Ningbo Zhoushan Port handled 1.22 billion metric tons of cargo, up 4.4 percent year-on-year and topping the global rankings for the 13th straight year. The port's container throughput reached 31.08 million TEUs, up 8.2 percent year-on-year and ranking third globally, official data from the Zhejiang Port and Shipping Management Center showed.

The Longguan township in Ningbo's Haishu district was designated as China's first biodiversity-friendly township by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment on June 30.

The title was conferred to the township during an event held in Meishan Bay in Ningbo's Beilun district to mark the 12th Zhejiang Ecological Day.

Located at the foot of Siming Mountain, Longguan town has rich biological resources and a forest coverage rate of 86 percent. It is home to some species under State protection, including the Isoetes sinensis and the hooded crane.

Last October, the town was invited to attend the NGO parallel forum of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) held in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province.

It was the only town from East China's Zhejiang province invited to attend the forum.

In May 2021, the Haishu government started construction on a biodiversity experience base in Longguan township. The base is the largest of its kind in Zhejiang.

The government has also reached a strategic cooperative agreement with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment to launch projects related to biodiversity in the township.

According to the head official of the Ningbo municipal bureau of ecology and environment, the local government plans to turn Wulongtan, a national-level 4A scenic spot located in Longguan township, into the nation's first biodiversity friendly scenic spot, and organize more activities such as summer camps to get more young people involved in biodiversity protection.

近日，宁波市海曙区龙观乡被生态环境部指定为全国首个生物多样性友好型乡镇。

这一称号是在宁波市北仑区梅山湾举行的第12个浙江生态日主场活动中被授予的。

龙观乡位于四明山麓，生物资源丰富，森林覆盖率达86%。孕育了许多国家一级保护动植物，包括中华水韭和白颈长尾雉。

去年10月，龙观乡应邀出席了在云南省昆明市举行的联合国《生物多样性公约》第十五次缔约方大会平行论坛。

这是中国东部浙江省唯一受邀参加论坛的乡镇。

2021年5月，宁波市海曙区政府开始在龙观乡建设生物多样性体验基地，该基地是浙江同类基地中最大的。

宁波政府还与生态与环境部达成战略合作协议，在龙观乡启动与生物多样性有关的项目。

据宁波市生态环境局负责人介绍，计划将位于龙观乡的国家4A级景区五龙潭建设成为全国首个“生物多样性友好景区”，并组织更多夏令营等活动，让更多年轻人参与生物多样性保护。

Ningbo was recently included in a national pilot program for the rapid settlement of intellectual property disputes, local media reported.

The city is the only city in East China's Zhejiang province that has been included in the program.

The pilot program will see the city take measures to reduce the time required for administrative adjudication cases from the current three months to one.

Acceptance opinions will be issued by local intellectual property rights protection center within five working days after it receives cases related to intellectual property disputes overseas. Cases can be filed by enterprises through online and offline channels.

The city's improved efficiency in resolving intellectual property disputes is expected to bolster the confidence of local market entities and further stimulate local innovation, noted experts.

In a report released in June, Ningbo was again ranked first among 157 sub-provincial cities and prefecture-level cities in a national appraisal for administrative protection for intellectual property rights in 2021. This is the second year in a row that the city has topped the ranking.

在6月份发布的一份报告中，宁波在2021年国家知识产权行政保护评估中再次名列157个副省级城市和地级城市之首。这是宁波连续第二年位居榜首。

Ningbo's Xiangshan county recently inaugurated a facility to promote sea salt drying skills.

The facility is the first of its kind in East China's Zhejiang province.

The venue is adjacent to the Hua'ao salt farm, which is the only existing salt farm in the province which still dries sea salt the traditional way.

Its establishment will further promote the traditional techniques, which have been designated as a national intangible cultural heritage item, and inject new vitality to local tourism industry, according to Wang Xiao, deputy Party chief of Gaotang Island township, where the Hua'ao salt farm is located.

近日，宁波市象山县海盐晒制非遗传承所正式开馆，以提高当地海盐干燥技术。据悉，该传承所是浙江省首家。

海盐晒制场地毗邻花岙盐场，花岙盐场是省内唯一一家仍以传统方式手工晒制海盐的盐场。

花岙盐场所在的象山县高塘岛乡党委副书记王潇表示，该项目的建立将进一步推广被列为国家级非物质文化遗产的传统工艺，并为当地旅游业注入新的活力。

Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province launched an international public art festival on July 5.

The participating individuals and organizations should submit their design works themed on the culture and history of the Tianyi Pavilion - Moon Lake scenic spot in the city before Sept 30, according to the organizers.

The submissions can be sent to nbdiaosu@126.com.

The winners will be decided by online votes and evaluations made by a jury composed of renowned artists. The first prize is 100,000 yuan ($15,384.6).

The Tianyi Pavilion - Moon Lake scenic spot, as its name suggests, is composed of two parts.

Moon Lake, affectionately called the mother lake of Ningbo, has a history of over 1,400 years and features 10 charming islets. On its west bank stands Tianyige, or Tianyi Pavilion, which was built some 460 years ago and is believed to China's oldest surviving library.

7月5日，宁波市启动了一场国际公共艺术大赛。

据主办方介绍，参展单位和个人应在9月30日前提交以天一阁·月湖景区文化历史为主题的设计作品。

获奖者将由知名艺术家组成的评审团通过在线投票和评估决定。一等奖为人民币10万元（15384.6美元）。

天一阁·月湖景区，顾名思义，由两部分组成。

月湖，有着1400多年的历史，有着10个迷人的小岛，被人们亲切地称为宁波的母亲湖。它的西岸矗立着天一阁，建于460年前，被认为是中国现存最古老的图书馆。

A woodblock painting art gallery named after Yu Qihui, a renowned Chinese print artist, was recently inaugurated in Beilun district, Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province.

The gallery features more than 200 works that depict the changes of Beilun district, Yu's hometown.

Born in 1934, Yu Qihui taught at the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, which is now known as the China Academy of Fine Arts, after graduating from the school in 1960.

His works have won numerous national and provincial art awards, and have been collected by the National Art Museum of China, the British Museum, the European Woodblock Print Foundation, the Ashmolean Museum of Oxford University and the Kanagawa Museum.

Since 1994, Yu has lectured in cities including Paris, Campbell, London and Los Angeles, and made outstanding contributions to the promotion of Chinese culture.

"The hometown is not only my 'root', but also the source of inspiration for my wood carvings," said the 88-year-old while attending the art gallery's inauguration ceremony.

Yu has donated more than 400 woodblock paintings to Beilun to date.

The newly gallery is open to the public free of charge every day except Mondays.

一家以中国著名版画艺术家俞启慧的名字命名的木版画艺术馆最近在宁波市北仑区落成。

艺术馆展出了200多件作品，描绘了俞启慧的故乡北仑区的变化。

俞启慧生于1934年，1960年毕业于中央美术学院华东分院，现为中国美术学院。

俞启慧的作品多次获得国家和省级美术奖，并被中国美术馆、大英博物馆、欧洲木版画基金会、牛津大学阿什莫林美术馆和神奈川美术馆收藏。

1994年以来，俞启慧先后在巴黎、坎贝尔、伦敦、洛杉矶等地讲学，为弘扬中华文化做出了突出贡献。

“故乡不仅是我的‘根’，也是我木刻创作灵感的源泉，”这位88岁的老人在参加美术馆的开幕式时说。

到目前为止，俞启慧已向北仑区捐赠了400多幅木版画。

据了解，该艺术馆除星期一外每天免费向公众开放。

After more than a year of preparation, on July 3, the “Paper-related Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall” of the Cultural Center for Ancient Paper Making Technique of Tang’ao Village, Xiaowangmiao Street of Fenghua District was officially completed and opened to the public, comprehensively displaying the history and technological process of the ancient paper making techniques in Tang’ao Village. Meanwhile, the “Paper-related Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall” organized the experience activities, so that citizens and tourists can more intuitively understand the production process of the ancient paper making techniques, and enrich and inherit the cultural connotation of the provincial intangible cultural heritage item of “Tang’ao paper”.

经过一年多的筹建，7月3日上午，奉化萧王庙街道棠岙村古法造纸文化中心“纸说非遗”馆正式建成对外开放。这是目前浙东地区唯一一个以古法造纸技艺为展览核心的展览馆，全面展现了棠岙造纸技艺的历史和工艺流程，同时“纸说非遗”馆融入体验环节，让市民和游客更直观的了解古法造纸技艺的制作过程，丰富和传承“棠岙纸”这一省级非遗的文化内涵。

At the hall, a variety of paper-making tools, old-fashioned letters and ancient books recording historical materials are displayed, and the detailed procedures of ancient paper-making techniques are hung on the wall. According to Yuan Jianzeng, the provincial inheritor of intangible cultural heritage and the second-generation inheritor of ancient paper making technique, “the ‘Paper-related Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall’ not only displays the history of papermaking, but also attracts young people to participate in the inheritance of ancient papermaking techniques.”

抄纸、干纸、整纸……走入“纸说非遗”馆内，陈列着各式各样的造纸工具、旧式书信与记载史料的古籍，墙上挂着古法造纸技术的详细工序。

“我们是浙东地区唯一一家古法造纸技艺的工厂，关于纸张制作的‘纸说非遗’展览馆在浙东地区也是第一个。”省级非遗传承人、古法造纸二代传人袁建增向记者介绍，“‘纸说非遗’展览馆不仅要述说造纸的历史，更要吸引年轻人参与古法造纸技艺传承当中来。”

Reportedly, upon completion, the intangible cultural heritage hall will serve as the social practice base during the summer vacation for the students from the College of Teacher Education of Ningbo University. 

“We usually see intangible cultural heritage items through TV and news, but only when we really come to the living environment of intangible cultural heritage can we understand why intangible cultural heritage can pass down in the thousands of years of history.” said Wang Liheng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Teacher Education of Ningbo University.

据了解，“纸说非遗”馆建成后，将作为宁波大学教师教育学院暑期社会实践基地。

“平时我们都是通过电视和新闻看到非遗项目，但是我们只有真正到非遗传承的生活环境中来，才能了解非遗为什么能够传承百年的历史。”宁波大学教师教育学院党委副书记王立衡表示，非遗是活的文化传承，有很多民俗文化可能在社会的演进过程中灭绝，所以研究好非遗项目是对当时生态的传承和保留。

According to Yuan Jianzeng, to attract more young people to study and inherit the ancient papermaking techniques, the “Tang’ao paper” item has developed such new cultural creative products as paper fans, paper desk lamps and paper albums of paintings, and it is now actively preparing for the first material packaging competition for intangible cultural heritage in Ningbo.

袁建增表示，为了更好地吸引越来越多的年轻人加入到古法造纸技艺的学习与传承当中来，棠岙纸还有纸团扇、纸书灯、册页等文创产品，目前正在积极准备参加宁波市首届非物质文化遗产材料包装大赛。

荷花盛放季，蜜桃成熟时

These days, the lotus flowers in Ningbo Botanical Garden are blooming. The breeze blew, and the lotus swayed gently among the verdant leaves, which looked especially beautiful against the blue sky and white clouds.

这几天，宁波植物园的荷花盛开。微风吹过，荷花在青翠的叶子中轻轻摇曳，在蓝天白云的衬托下显得格外美丽。

Apart from lotus, there are also beautiful and graceful water lilies showing their graceful appearance in the garden. The water lilies are mainly planted in pot, some with high flower bud and some fully open.

In addition to blooming flowers, honey peaches are also ripe.

In the past few days, the Yixin Farm in Ningbo Golden Orchard, located in Zhenhai, has seen a bumper harvest. Zhenhai local early ripening peach called "Dabaochiyue" hangs heavily on the branches, which is very attractive.
