Forget Cinco de Mayo, actual Mexican Independence Day is on September 16, marking the moment in 1810 when Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a Catholic priest known as Father Hidalgo, made the first cry for independence in the town of Dolores. To celebrate, Pebbles has collaborated with El Barrio to create a series of special Mexican dishes, including pozole rojo, a spicy stew made from pork and hominy (dried corn kernals that have been treated with an alkali in a process called nixtamalization), and fideo seco (thin angel hair pasta cooked in a tomato sauce). The specials will be available from September 15-30, during which time Pebbles will also have buy-one-get-one-free deals on selected cocktails, agave spirits, soft drinks, and beers.
There's something to discover every day at the new Grill @ Market Café at Hyatt Regency Beijing Wangjing. From Monday to Sunday, they have a different food or drink deal every day when you dine between 5.30-7pm. For example, on Monday you get six complimentary freshly-shucked oysters or on Tuesday you can choose from a complimentary portion of duck and black truffle rillettes or house-smoked salmon rillettes. We've got our eye on the Friday deal, when every guest gets an Old Fashioned cocktail from the table-side stir bar. Find out more in this WeChat post.
