EAT: Nali Patio Christmas Celebration, Bottega Lunch, and More
Tis the season to wantonly treat yourself, my favorite method of which is the odd indulgent lunch here and there. Luckily, Bottega have recently updated their set lunch menu with some new wintery options such as cream of chickpea soup garnished with mozzarella-stuffed squid and pollo al forno (baked chicken with sautéed and creamy dijon mustard sauce). Two courses will set you back RMB 88 and the menu is available at both branches of Bottega in Xinyuanli and Nali Patio.
Speaking of Nali Patio, the building's restaurants are coming together for a Christmas celebration on Thursday, Dec 14, 5-10pm. Entry is free, and there will be a mulled wine competition, winter dishes from restaurants like Migas, Crepanini, Bottega, Boccata, Niajo, La Social, and others, and a Christmas raffle with great prizes to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Following the success of their last chef collaboration, a vegan burger that has made it onto the menu as a permanent addition, Slow Boat have teamed up with Migas’ executive chef Miguel Casal Zapata to create the chorizo dog (pictured at top). The chorizo dog features a handcrafted sausage infused with Spanish spices enclosed in a fresh wheat bun loaded up with garlic aioli, smoky chipotle sauce, and beer-battered fried onions. Available at Slow Boat Sanlitun brewpub. Slow Boat also have a bunch of new daily deals, including meat-free Monday, when all veg burgers and salads are buy-one-get-one-free with the purchase of a drink.
In other brewpub-related news, Jing-A Brewpub Xingfucun is now open early on weekends and to celebrate, they're giving away a free pint of Mandarin Wheat, Tuhao Pilsner or Worker’s Pale Ale (or a soda or coffee) with any sandwich. Options include the classic cheeseburger, barbecue brisket sandwich, and the veggie burger with smoked tofu and balsamic-brined portobello mushrooms.
The folks at Ron Mexico have started offering a meatless Monday deal. Priced at RMB 98, the deal comes with an appetizer, entree, and a drink, a choice of mulled wine or their partner brewery Nine Gates beer. The menu is available every Monday from 7-11pm. Expect the menu to change every week.
