EAT: Pachakutiq Returns as Pachapapi, Avocado Tree at PVG

Pachakutiq to Return as Pachapapi, Sep 27
Pachakutiq, the little Peruvian pop-up that refused to quit despite having to leave its original CBD location in 2016 and then its Sanlitun Soho space last year, is making a triumphant return at a new permanent location and with a new name. Rebranded as Pachapapi and situated in Xinyuanxili's Shang complex alongside a number of other red-hot restaurants, the Peruvian eatery will serve up its famous ceviches and piscos during a super soft opening from Sep 27-30 for dinnertime only between 5pm-11.30pm, before opening for lunch as well from Oct 1 onward (lunchtime opening TBD). Their soft opening will then be capped off with a grand opening on Oct 20. Aside from the name change, the new space will also have a small stage for salsa performances and a range of new drinks and dishes. We'll have more details after giving Pachapapi a proper visit soon. Avocado Tree Opens New Store at Parkview Green
Avocado Tree has opened a fifth restaurant in Beijing, this time in ultra-modern shopping mall Parkview Green. The Parkview Green location follows closely in the footsteps of their Sanyuanqiao store, which opened early in summer 2018. The design of the new store is sleek and modern, with a green color scheme that will make you feel like you are standing inside an avocado. The restaurant also boasts seating in Parkview Green's airy sunken plaza, all in the same fetching shade of green.
Pizza Nights by The Bake Shop
Purveyors of quality bread The Bake Shop have started to experiment with pizza and have launched a weekly pizza party for those that would like to sample the fruits of their labor. Held every Wednesday at The Orchid's new event space on Baochao Hutong, the pizza party features a set menu of naturally-leavened sourdough pizza, meatballs, salad, and dessert. I went by to check this out the other week and the pizza dough is definitely among the tastiest I've had in Beijing, topped with creative topping combinations. Soft drinks, wine, and draft Great Leap beer are available to order à la carte. Dinner is priced at RMB 200 per person, with limited seating available in two slots: 6.30pm and 7.30pm. The Bake Shop's sourdough, bagels, and more are also available to order via Meituan and Jinshisong.
Royal Stacks Debut The Beijinger Burger, Makes Us Blush
Royal Stacks, newcomers to the Beijing burger scene, add a new special to their menu, 'The Beijinger' (RMB 52) with the notable inclusion of slices of beetroot. Is this in reaction to our review from Sep 18, in which we were slightly disappointed by the lack of the purple vegetable? Most likely. Are we flattered? Very! According to our resident Australian, beetroot makes a delightfully juicy and slightly sweet addition to a regular burger. Get down to Royal Stacks before Nov 25 to try it.
Thirsty Thursday Wine Specials at Arcade
Arcade has teamed up with The Wine Republic to create a weekly Thursday evening wine night. They will be offering a selection of wines starting from RMB 45 per glass and RMB 147 per bottle, with glasses buy-one-get-one-free from 5-9pm and bottles at 30 percent off. Check out this WeChat post for more information about which wines are available. If you need something to soak up all that wine, you can add RMB 60 to get free flow access to a tasty selection of chips and dips made by Arcade's kitchen team.
National Holiday Deal at Tribe Sanlitun
Finally, if you fancy taking advantage of the upcoming week-long October holiday to get healthy, then you'll want to head over to Tribe Sanlitun, where all dishes and drinks are buy-one-get-one-free from Oct 1-7. Tribe is also a good option for visiting guests with food allergies, as all the dishes are clearly marked with what ingredients they contain. Tribe Sanlitun and Tribe Solana are open 8am-10pm every day during the holiday, while Tribe WF Central is open 10am-10pm.
