Vaccines took a while to get to foreigners in Beijing, but now that the process has begun it seems to be moving quicker than a hutong weasel. In fact, the latest surveys in the Beijinger’s Safe & Sane WeChat groups indicate that at least 40 percent of foreigners in the capital have already received their first shot.
However, with the process currently relying largely on pop-up facilities at communities, it can be easy to miss your window. If that happens, are you just out of luck? Thank heavens, no!
As one might expect, when temporary facilities close up, COVID-19 vaccine administration will be conducted at hospitals like any other vaccine. And at least one hospital is already taking appointments, as our very own staff can confirm.
Beijing United Family Hospitals have launched a waitlist that eager vaccine recipients can sign up for through WeChat. The only catch is this – your home or work address must be in Chaoyang District to sign up. Other than that, any foreign national above the age of 18 may book an appointment at one of the three Beijing United locations.
If you prefer to sign up by phone, then dial 4008-919191.
When a spot is open for your appointment, the hospital staff will contact you – just be sure to bring your passport along!
