Established in 1968, the IBDP provides an international education to enable young people to better understand and manage the complexities of our world, while simultaneously providing them with the skills and attitudes to take action to improve it. 

Such an education was grounded in the belief that the world could be made better through an education that focused on concepts, ideas, and issues that crossed disciplinary, cultural, national, and geographical boundaries.  

The DP provides a challenging, internationally focused, broad, and balanced educational experience for students from 16 to 19 years old. Students are required to study six subjects and a curriculum core concurrently over two years.

The programme is designed to equip students with the basic academic skills needed for university study, further education, and their chosen profession.  

The DP builds off foundations laid during the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). From nursery to grade five, students can take part in the PYP which allows each student to utilize inquiry to engage in trans-disciplinary and real-world explorations. 

Moving on to MYP, from grades six to ten, the emphasis is placed on intellectual challenge, learning by doing, and making practical connections between student’s subjects and the real world.

During MYP students build confidence in their own learning within a global context as they navigate what it means to act as a responsible citizen in the world.

Both programmes fuel the fires needed for students to successfully navigate the rigor of the DP. In short, the IB sets students up for long-term success in their educational and professional careers. 

Research shows that students who attend an IB World School are more likely to complete an undergraduate degree and pursue graduate work than non-IB students. IB students excel outside of the classroom as well.
