Tai'an black metal pioneers Dark Fount - who lean more into the riff-heavy elements of Norwegian black metal - are back with their sophomore LP with Pest Productions - fifteen years in the making. Hearkening to ‘the second wave of black metal with a misanthropic nature’ there’s a raw theatricality to the band’s grim outlook - painting its sweeping passages in a turbulence of ‘coldness and fury’ - much like the ancient woods which surround the band’s hometown. Gorgeously bleak, relentless in its desolation - Dark Fount may be world-weary but their sound is as ferocious as ever.
