Less than a year after the release of her genre-spanning jazz opus, Lost for Words, songstress Voision Xi returns to her role as producer on Five Loops in Her Way, using her versatile and ever-expanding set of skills to paint on an even bigger more abstract canvas. Seemingly an excavation and exploration of her musical experiences as a producer over the past few years, Xi seems to be having a ball diving headfirst into the woozy waters of trip-hop, neo soul, ambient music, and the endless possibilities of electronica - and our ears are all the happier for it.

Shanghai musician and producer LEONWILL doesn’t so much break free from the club on his debut as he does break the club open to the basking sun and the fantastical world that resides inside his head. A buzzy, breezy fusion of new jazz, krautrock, pop and electronic music, the producer alongside percussive rhythm madman Tuzi Wang, lays down some mammoth grooves on his debut, not afraid to head into the weeds in search of the party. Leonwill truly takes off when it allows its simmering synth-laced world-building to merge seamlessly with its intricate musicality and its pop aspirations a la True Believer. Beijing-based producer and electronic musician (known to most as Far Infinity) goes full ambient with his latest - Sleeping Portraits - which finds the hard techno purveyor taking in the view and catching his breath. Composed in a state of ‘leisure and looseness,’ and full of texturally rich, intricately layered electro-acoustic offerings with IDM in their roots, it does what the best ambient music should do - take its time, settle down and let its limbs stretch wide and high.
