瑜舍这次很荣幸邀请到了艺术家Yvan Deng,
与他的陶瓷雕塑艺术作品 ——《无限与不可思议的欲望》。
This spring, The Opposite House is pleased
to present “Infinite & Inconceivable Lust”,
an exhibition of ceramic sculptures created
by artist Yvan Deng.
Yvan 将他对时尚的态度融入到中国传统手工艺品中,
从而呈现一段跨越古今的对话,
同时也开启了与未来的沟通之门。
By bringing his fashion aesthetic together with traditional Chinese artefacts,
this body of work inspires dialogue
between the past and present,
which in turn sparks a conversation for the future.

这一作品对象征无限的八个柳叶瓷瓶进行寓言式解读。
这些瓷瓶被有秩序的排列在一起创造出一幅全新的“画布”,
其背面装饰着节选自《洛神赋》的中国古代书法。
这两条龙代表着两个个体,他们不惧性别地为在一起而奋斗。
运用色彩的组合,缓和展览活动和陈述的严肃性,
并展示体验的积极和轻松态度。
Inspired by traditional Chinese culture with a modern twist,
the eight willow leaf vases of“Infinite & Inconceivable Lust”
symbolise the infinite. Together, they work as a canvas,
with calligraphy selected from the ancient Chinese poem
“The Goddess of the Luo River” featured across the
back and two dragons, representing two individuals and
their fight to be together regardless of gender,
across the front. A pink and red colour scheme is
used to ease the seriousness of the imagery and poetry
while creating a positive and light-hearted viewing experience.

思考我们生活的某些方面是否是预先注定的…
或者只是我们自己创造的。
此次展出将会一直在瑜舍中庭展出至4月底
The exhibition invites the audience to
reflect on their relationships
and whether our lives are pre-determined
or a creation of our own making.
The installation opened for public viewing at the Atrium
of The Opposite House from now to the end of April 2022.

Yvan Deng的才华得到了许多顶级时尚品牌及刊物的认可。他的作品敢于突破界限,将表现主义融入了当代的高级时尚领域。受到东方女性和高级时尚摄影的影响,Yvan的绘画和陶瓷作品通过描绘丹凤眼、大耳环和精致的柳叶眉的人物形象而清晰可辨。优雅的人物既富戏剧感,又捕捉鲜明的时尚态度。这正如Yvan描述其创作过程是自由的、自我的、有感情的。他亦从传统绘画所用的媒介取材,与中国水墨结合,不拘一格。
Deng's talent has been recognised by many top fashion labels and publications. His work has pushed boundaries, integrating Expressionism into the contemporary high fashion scene. Largely influenced by Asian women's and high fashion photography, Yvan's ceramics and paintings are distinctly recognisable by depicting faces with mono-lidded eyes, big earrings, and finely arched eyebrows. He describes his process of creation as free, self-centred, and emotional. Skilful with mixed media, he draws his inspiration from traditional Chinese ink painting.
