The authors present an eBPF-based network accelerator for CNIs. Using eBPF, they implement inner node TCP communication and KubeVirt network acceleration.They have tested the acceleration on various workloads. Their results show significant performance gains including up to 40% network throughput improvements and up to 50% lower latency. Their method attaches eBPF programs to virtual network interfaces and perform optimizations like by bypassing the kernel stack and enabling direct data transmission between sockets.
