Review | Two-dimensional polymeric carbon nitride: structural engineering for optimizing photocatalysis

As a two-dimensional (2D) material, polymeric carbon nitride (g-C3N4) nanosheet holds great potentials in environmental purification and solar energy conversion. In this review, we summarized latest progresses in the optimization of photocatalytic performance in 2D g-C3N4. Some of the latest structural engineering methods were summed up, where the relevant influences on the behaviors of photo-induced species were emphasized. Furthermore, the construction strategies for band structure modulation and charge separation promotion were then discussed in detail. A brief discussion on the opportunity and challenge of 2D g-C3N4-based photocatalysis are presented as the conclusion of this review.

Review | Crystal phase control in two-dimensional materials

doi: 10.1007/s11426-018-9326-yThe recent emergence of two-dimensional (2D) materials has evoked the discovery of a number of new crystal phases that are different from their bulk structures at ambient conditions, and revealed novel structure-dependent properties. In this contribution, we review the recent development of crystal phase control in 2D materials, including group VI transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), group IVA metal chalcogenides and noble metals. For each group of materials, we begin with introducing the various existing crystal phases and their structure-related properties, followed by a detailed discussion on factors that influence these crystal structures and thus the possible strategies for phase control. Finally, after summarizing the whole paper, we present the challenges and opportunities in this research direction.
Review | Recent advancements in 2D nanomaterials for cancer therapy

Since mechanical exfoliation of graphene in 2004, unprecedented scientific and technological advances have been achieved in the development of two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials. In this review, we summarize recent research progress on the design and fabrication of functional 2D nanomaterials capable of being applied for the cancer treatment including drug delivery, photodynamic therapy, and photothermal therapy. Their anticancer mechanisms were discussed in detail, and the related safety concerns were analyzed based on current research developments. This review is expected to provide an insight in the field of 2D nanostructured materials for anticancer applications.

Graphdiyne (GDY), a novel two-dimensional (2D) carbon allotrope featuring one-atom-thick planar layers of sp and sp2 co-hybridized carbon network, is a rapidly rising star on the horizon of materials science. In this review, we aim at providing an up-to-date comprehensive overview on the state-of-the-art research into GDY, from theoretical studies to the key achievements in the development of new GDY-based energetic materials for energy storage and conversion. By reviewing the state-of-the-art achievements, we aim to address the benefits and issues of GDY-based materials, as well as highlighting the existing key challenges and future opportunities in this exciting field.
