259-61期预告|在赵鼎新之外挑战Mann的权力理论：拓展、解释与否定
赵鼎新老师最近在《探索与争鸣》上发表的《中国只能追随西方社科理论？我偏不信》（原标题？不详），总结了自己对Michael Mann的权力理论的挑战。
Mann的理论是
the "IEMP model" of social power: ideological, economic, military, and political.
He believes that these aspects of social reality are largely independent sets of institutions and processes, and they create different though complementary sources of power for individuals and groups within a given state of society.

其实，挑战Michael Mann的权力理论的，不乏赵老师。西方人当然也会自己干架。除了已有Mann参与和回应的论文集，如：

Reed, Isaac Ariail. 2013. “Power: Relational, Discursive, and Performative Dimensions.” Sociological Theory 31(3):193–218.
这篇是Isaac Reed拿了美国社会学会theory分会的2014 Junior Theorist Award的作品，也是Reed在2007年博士毕业后，正式开始的第二项更为专题化的研究项目（第一项是他的博士论文）。
简单地讲，他给Mann甩到“一边”，变成了列联表——谈power is 太多了（作为横项），但explanation上一直非常薄弱，为纵列。

Heiskala就北欧社会学理论的大咖，教学上会开亚当斯密，项目上研究经济创新，理论上玩结构主义/建构主义种种。看标题就知道他是给Mann又加了两项，分别是：技术和自然，所以可以把non-social 带进来，甚至云解释Mann直至最后一卷最后一章才解释的气候变迁，以及他不太关注的gender问题。

Menge, Torsten. 2017. “The Role of Power in Social Explanation.” European Journal of Social Theory
Menge是在西北大学的卡塔尔分校的助理教授。他从explanation角度提出悲观的看法：不可能有general theory of power。不过，他并没有引用Michael Mann的作品，而是有些社会科学哲学角度批判社会科学研究的味道，小标题 见：
