报告摘要
Environmental problems caused by human activities can be ameliorated by green redesign of chemical processes and products. But that redesign must be performed with care.
• How can molecules be designed to perform well but avoid harming the environment?
• How can chemical syntheses be redesigned to simplify post-reaction separations?
• How can we replace harmful organic solvents in products where water doesn’t work well?
My group studies ways to use waste CO₂ as a trigger for stimuli-responsive solvents, solutes, and surfaces. Our work will be used as examples to answer these many questions about green chemistry.
个人简介
Dr. Philip Jessop, FRSC, is the Canada Research Chair of Green Chemistry at Queen's University in Canada and the Technical Director of Green Centre Canada. His research interests include green solvents and the chemistry of CO₂ and H₂. Distinctions include the NSERC Polanyi Award (2008), a Killam Research Fellowship (2010), Canadian Green Chemistry & Engineering Award (2012), the Eni Award (2013) and Fellowship in the Royal Society of Canada and the Royal Society of Chemistry. He serves as Chair of the Editorial Board for the journal Green Chemistry, has chaired three major international conferences and helped create GreenCentre Canada, a centre for the commercialization of green chemistry technologies.
